GCSE results 2022: Tears of joy for Park Academy West London students as hard work yields impressive grades!

There were plenty of tears of joy for students collecting their GCSE results at Park Academy West London this morning. 
This year’s Year 11 cohort were the first to sit GCSE exams following the Covid-19
pandemic which saw them endure two years of disturbance to their learning as a result of the lockdowns put in place. 
Some 15% of students were graded 9-7, 53% of entries graded 9-5 and 68% of entries were graded 9-4. Almost 50% of students achieved at least a grade 8 or equivalent.
The following subjects saw 75% of students awarded grade 9-4 (or equivalent):
All home languages (German, Italian, Polish, Punjabi, Persian and Turkish)
Art
Enterprise
French
Sport
Health and Social Care
Music
Travel and Tourism

Suvi Mohey, Principal at the Park View Road, Uxbridge school told the Hillingdon Times: “They’ve worked extremely hard and shown resilience during a difficult time. Their determination to achieve the best results possible means that as a school our attainment and results have gone up.”

Case studies: 

A week earlier Arti Dalal was celebrating her sister Tulsi’s A-level results. This time it was her turn. The 16-year-old secured Grade 8s, 7s, 6s and one 5. She said: “I’m really proud. I worked really hard and it paid off. It was helpful to have my sister when I was learning at home as I found her support invaluable – she could understand what I was going through. 
“All the disruption caused by Covid has made things difficult for students but the school was very supportive and helped us to keep going. 
“I now plan to do A-levels in Maths, Art & Business Studies at Park.”
 
Kate Geron, 16, was one of the top-performing GCSE students at Park Academy. She achieved 3 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s alongside a star grade for Music. 
She said: “I’m feeling great, I got good grades and accomplished what I set out to do. The school was very supportive and helped us to catch up on anything we may have missed by not being in a classroom. 
“I’m now planning to do my A-levels at Park in Maths, Biology & Chemistry. I would like to go on to be a doctor and a surgeon.”
