Imagine having to produce the meal for 84 of your Year 11 peers and a handful of staff?
Four students at Atlantic Academy Portland did just that to mark the end of term last week.
Teenagers Dylan Garbutt, Jennifer Chadbone, Tobias Moatt and Callum Seddon, prepped, cooked and served the delicious meal and also set the tables complete with napkins, crackers and paper hats.
The 15-year-olds are four of 42 students currently completing a Level 2 Hospitality & Catering qualification at the all-through school.
Atlantic Academy currently has places available for Reception and Year 7 to start September 2021. To find out more or to attend a virtual information session, January 6th 2021 at 6pm, please email: apply@atlantic-aspirations.org
Tasha Board, careers and vocational lead at Atlantic Academy secondary, said the school’s chef and sous chef were on hand to guide but all the hard work and prep was completed by the quartet of teenagers.
Ms Board said: ‘’It was a lot for them to do: The turkey, carrots, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffings but the end result was fantastic. The lunch was the talk of the school. Quite a few of the students who enjoyed the meal went back for seconds!
‘’Dillon, Jennifer, Tobias and Callum were enthusiastic from the start and worked incredibly hard. They absolutely smashed it and they should be so proud of themselves.’’
